Henry County Board of Education Appoints Toi McLaughlin as Principal of Oakland Elementary School

HENRY COUNTY, GA – The Henry County Board of Education during its July 13 meeting approved Toi McLaughlin as the new principal of Oakland Elementary School.

“I am honored to step into this new role as principal of Oakland Elementary,” McLaughlin said. “My hope is to build a school where strong instruction, genuine belonging, and real community partnerships come together so every student can thrive.”

McLaughlin has 27 years of experience in education and most recently served as an assistant principal at Pate’s Creek Elementary School. She has a demonstrated history of improving achievement, building a positive school culture, and developing high-performing instructional teams.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. McLaughlin to the Oakland Elementary family,” Assistant Superintendent Kevin Van Tone said. “Great schools are built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success, and Mrs. McLaughlin embodies each of those qualities. Her leadership, experience, and passion for education will inspire excellence, strengthen our school community, and create new opportunities for every student to succeed. We are excited to see the positive difference she will make for Oakland Elementary School and the Oakland community.”

McLaughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Georgia Southern University; a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Central Michigan University; and an education specialist degree in curriculum, instruction, administration, and management from Nova Southeastern University.

“I am pleased to welcome Mrs. McLaughlin to her new role as principal of Oakland Elementary School,” said Superintendent Dr. John Pace III. “I look forward to Mrs. McLaughlin applying her extensive experience to strengthen instruction and relationships at Oakland Elementary. I am confident her leadership will inspire students to discover their positive purpose and become lifelong learners.”

McLaughlin began her tenure July 14 as principal of Oakland Elementary School.
